C. What do you believe about the BibleWe believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God Psalm 119:16 2 Tim 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
Both the Old Testament and the New Testament are given by inspiration of God. Inspiration of God literally means God-breathed. Sometimes God told the writers exactly what to say (Jer. 1:9). Other times God used the men as a writer used a pen. He allowed their personallity to shine through while guiding truth.
When scripture speaks, God speaks (Romans 9:17; Gal. 3:8). It's doctrine is complete truth necessary for life and goliness (Ps. 119:97-105).
It can rebuke us for wrong behavior ror belief. Scriptures also exposes sin (Heb. 4:12,13) that .can be delt with through confession and repentance. It not only rebukes bad behavior, but it help us back on track with correction (Ps. 119:9-11).
Instruction in righteousness: Scripture provides positive training not just to rebuke when you are worng.
E. How would you describe God?There is 1 living true God (Deut. 6:4) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.
Infinite all knowing Spirit (John 4:24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Existing in 3 Persons (Matt. 28:19) Go ye therefore, and teachb all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
(2 Cor 13:14) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.
God is the creator of everything.
We believe in the personal triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in divine perfection (Matt. 28:19).
F. Who is Jesus?Jesus is the 2nd person of the trinity. It is through Jesus that we have salvation. Jesus left heaven to come to earth, be born of a virgin, live a sinless life, He was crucified and rose again the 3rd to pay for our sins.
-We believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (Matt.1:20) fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceivedb in her is of the Holy Ghost.
-We believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ (John 10:30) I and my Father are one.
-We believe Christ's death was sacrifice in behalf of the sins of man (Hebrews 2:9) But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
-We believe that salvation is completely by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8); and once a person is saved, they will always be saved (I Peter 1:5; John 10:27-30)
-We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of Jesus, and the bodily resurrection of His saints (I Cor.15); and in the second coming of Jesus Christ, personal and bodily, as the crowning event of this age (Acts 1:11), to set up His kingdom on earth and to rule upon the earth one thousand years (Revelation 20:6)
-We believe in the Bible doctrine of eternal punishment of those who reject salvation in Christ (Matthew 25:46)
G. In relation to our sins, why did Jesus die on the cross? We believe Christ's death was sacrifice in behalf of the sins of man
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Even better Romans 5:6-11
6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement
Hebrews 2:9- But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
H. Explain what the Bible teaches about the resurrection, and ascension of Christ? We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of Jesus, and the bodily resurrection of His saints (I Cor.15); and in the second coming of Jesus Christ, personal and bodily, as the crowning event of this age (Acts 1:11), to set up His kingdom on earth and to rule upon the earth one thousand years (Revelation 20:6)
Jesus concord death and rose 3 days after his crucifixions This was God’s was of showing that the payment for sins were accepted. He was the “first fruits” of the resurrection. We like Him will be resurrected with our heavenly bodies.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven
From MacArthur Study Bible
Our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead and that He is now asended to the right hand of the Father, where He now mediates as our Advocate and High-Priest (Matt 38:6; Luke 24:38, 39; Acts 2:30, 31; Rom. 4:25; 8:34; Heb. 7:25; 9:24; 1 John 2:1).
In the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, God confirmed the deity of His Son and gave proof that God has accepted the atoning work of Christ on the cross. Jesus’ bodily resurrection is also the guarantee of a future resurrection like for all believers (John 5:26-29; 14:19; Romans 4:25; 6:5-10; 1 Cor. 15:20,23
I. What is the work of the Holy Spirit?
We believe the Holy Spirit is the divine Administrator for Jesus Christ in His churches (Luke 24:49; John 14:16, 17; Acts 1:4, 5, 8; Acts 2:1-4).
that the Holy Spirit convicts sinners, regenerates, seals, secures, and indwells every believer (John 3:6; John 16:8, 9; Rom. 8:9-11; 1 Cor. 6:19, 20; Eph. 4:30; Titus 3:5).
J. What does it mean to be saved and why do you need salvation?
Saved from what? Our sins. We’ve all transgressed God law. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Because of our sins we must be punished and this punishment is reasonable because of who we are. For the penalty of sin is death, but God didn’t want that. I send His Son to die on the cross for our sins.
We believe Christ's death was sacrifice in behalf of the sins of man (Hebrews 2:9)
What happens to those who are not saved?
-We believe in the Bible doctrine of eternal punishment of those who reject salvation in Christ (Matthew 25:46)
Can you explain what a person can do to be saved?
K. Do you believe in the doctrine of Eternal Security?
once a person is saved, they will always be saved (I Peter 1:5; John 10:27-30)
L. What are the two Scriptural officers of the Baptist Church?
We believe that there are two divinely appointed offices in a church, pastors and deacons, to be filled by men whose qualifications are set forth in Titus and 1 Timothy.
M. Based on the Bible depiction, please explain how you believe you are to fulfill the role of deacon at Victory MBC?N. What are the two ordinances administered by a local church?
We believe that there are two pictorial ordinances in the Lord's churches: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Scriptural baptism is the immersion of penitent believers in water, administered by the authority of a New Testament church in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Lord's Supper is a memorial ordinance, restricted to the members of the church observing the ordinance (Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 8:12, 38; Rom. 6:4; 1 Cor. 5:11-13; 1 Cor. 11:1, 2, 17-20, 26).
Who can partake of the Lord’s Supper? Who can be baptized?
Who can do the baptizing?
O. Can you give a definition of what a church is?We believe that Jesus Christ established His church during His ministry on earth and that it is always a local, visible assembly of scripturally baptized believers in covenant relationship to carry out the Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, and each church is an independent, self-governing body, and no other ecclesiastical body may exercise authority over it. We believe that Jesus Christ gave the Great Commission to the New Testament churches only, and that He promised the perpetuity of His churches (Matt. 4:18-22; Matt. 16:18; Matt. 28:19,
P. Tell us your view of the origin of earth and mankind?
4. We believe in the Genesis account of Creation (Gen. 1; 2).
Q. What is the Great Commission?Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
To whom was it given?
All believers (need verse)
2 Tim. 2:1- Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me amonga many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
S. What is the Greatest Commandment?Matthew 22:37
Love God with heart, soul, and mind. Mark adds strength to it. This is quoted for Deut 6:4.
